The fingerboard inlay on this instrument is identical to a fancy banjo uke (see pics) with "Liberty" inlaid on the peghead, and they have the same peghead shape. The resonators are quite similar, although this one has a full flange and the Liberty does not. I assume this was the more expensive of the two. Very likely it was made by Liberty after that company was absorbed by Slingerland.
